password protect folders in windows

follow these three simple steps to password protect a folder in windows xp,windows vista.

1. Compress/Zip the folder using the default winzip program.

2.Just double-click the zipped folder. In the top menu select File then click "Add a Password".

3.Type a password into the Password box. Then again in the "Confirm Password" box.

4.Now, you are the only person who can access files in this folder. The folder can be opened allowing the files to be seen, but you are the only one who can access them.

5.To open the files,open the zip file,you will be prompted for password.

* dont forget to delete the original folder after creating the zip file.Also remember to delete the extracted folder after you have unzipped.

Tip: if you dont want others to see even the name of your file.Put the folder in another folder and zip it and add password.
